This cooling tower packing or “fill pack” at an outdoor sports arena became so clogged the air flow was severely restricted. The fill pack, which provides a large surface area for evaporative cooling to take place, accumulated an excessive amount of concrete dust, calcium and dirt due to several construction projects in the area.

Our technicians used a newly developed chemical cleaning process that removed more than 85 percent of the material that had adhered to the fill pack. Once cleared and cleaned, air was flowing freely and the cooling tower was running efficiently again, achieving its optimal Delta T. (Delta T is a term used to measure the performance of a heating or cooling system.)
